C flute suitable for professional players. Straubinger Phoenix™ Pads offer softer touch, but also superior response, wide dynamic range and tolerance of environmental changes. The new Yamaha “Type A” headjoint enables the flautist to produce an easy yet colourful sound and still play using a wide dynamic range. There is a slightly increased wall thickness that greatly improves the resonance of the headjoint and maximizes the tonal colours. Headjoint and lip plate are made of 925 silver (Sterling Silver), body and footjoint are made of a silver-plated Nickel Silver (Alpaca). The 617 has covered keys, Offset G key and Split-E mechanism.
